I-Can't-Believe-It's-Fall Post

Is there some weird magic about September that makes it barrel through time faster than the other months? (And how would we know?)

Anyway, I was reminded about the coming of fall this week when I was approached by the folks over at Artbeads.com with a fun seasonal blog-partner challenge: Create an affordable design using Artbeads components in Pantone's colors for fall 2010.

Pantone, of course, is, in their own words

the world-renowned authority on color. For more than 45 years, Pantone has been inspiring design professionals with products, services and leading technology for the colorful exploration and expression of creativity.

Each season they publish a detailed "fashion color report" that introduces a palette destined to be trendy-popular for months to come. Here's the set for fall 2010, a.k.a. Fall's Fantasy:

Working from left-to-right across the bar, the official color names are:

  • Rose Dust {a soft, grayish pink}
  • Oyster Gray {a very slightly brownish gray}
  • Woodbine {looking a lot like olive - or avocado - green, with a hint of brown}
  • Lagoon {looking a lot like turquoise, with a bump in the direction of aquamarine}
  • Chocolate Truffle {dark brown with a slight rosy-violet tint}
  • Purple Orchid {bright violet}
  • Lipstick Red {bright pinkish red}
  • Living Coral {coral pink}
  • Golden Glow {a mild, sunny orange}
  • Endive {pastel yellow with a hint of green}

Most of these are variations of colors we've seen trending over the past couple of years. Surprisingly, they're overwhelmingly bright and cheery for fall, with the exception of the subdued gray and rose dust pink. (Could this be a continuation of the recent tribute to 80's fashion?)

Getting back to the Artbeads challenge, after spending quite a while on their site, cutting and pasting images and changing my mind numerous times, I finally selected my components. Come back in a couple of weeks to see what I selected, and whether you think I've succeeded with my design.

In the meantime, what do you think about these trendy new colors for fall?

I love the sharp colors, so that is why i like the beads with the sharp color scheme, they always attracts me. I always go for multi colors beads either with necklace or with ear rings supported with black chains.
