Elena Adams Designs basic chain maille video lessons

Jewelry designer Elena Adams has launched the first three in a new series of chain maille jewelry making videos, and you can watch them anytime online. Here's what you'll find in each one.

How to open and close jump rings

OK, this technique may not sound exciting, but it's an absolutely essential skill for maille making. Learn how to open and close jump rings correctly from the very start, and your jewelry will be super durable and professional looking.

How to make a chain maille charm bracelet

With this beginner's project you'll get used to working with jump rings and learn the basic two-by-two chain technique.

How to make spiral chain maille

Next, learn the best way to make a slinky, flowing spiral chain. This is a satisfying project that will get you ready to tackle more complicated chain maille weaves in the future.

Speaking of the future, Elena has more video lessons to come.

"I love to teach, and plan to expand the series into design and project features as well as basic weaves." - Elena

And even if chain maille isn't your thing, Elena offers some basic wire-jewelry making instruction as well. See her free video lesson on making wire-wrapped links here. (Try using it in conjunction with Wire Jewelry Quick Tips to develop your own signature technique and style.)

Need more motivation? Browse Elena's gorgeously designed site and be inspired by all of her sparkly creations, like these:

How to properly open and close a jump ring was really helpful for me--I taught myself how to make a lot of my jewelry, and now I know why my jump rings didn't close all the way! Thanks for the great advice on jump rings and jewelry making tools.
